Alfio, an honest and generous man extremely committed to work, established Fornace Mian in 1962, popularly known as Formia, initially only with two Master Glassmakers, in particular for his love for work and man’s commitment to it that in the Art of Glassmaking leave visible tracks.

A Murano Glass object witnesses the passion for art glass crafting handed down from over 20 generations. No one is born a Master Glassmaker, but can become such with a bit of skill, much work and a good amount of pride, which permits to gather experience by ‘snatching’ with the eyes the abilities of the other glass masters. No School can teach how to become a Glass Master. Only the people working in the furnace are the Masters of the Glassmaking Art.

With a staff of over 70 experts, and an area covering a 10.000 sq meters surface, including a Furnace (with 26 Ovens), the Grinding Department, Warehouses, Showrooms and Offices, Formia is one of the largest factories in Murano.

At the beginning of the new millennium, the new generation of Formia strengthened its collaboration with worldwide famous designers, artists and stylists. Together with them Formia creates objects out from the chaos of matter, which are attractive and earnestly sought after by sophisticated and demanding markets.

In a spasmodic market, ever more cluttered with Products, Objects and designs, the Formia Company with its two brands, breathes Style through its Products. Innovation lies in the image that it communicates; Creativity lies in the essential concept of the Brand that distinguishes the Product and places it on the Market.

Formia collections are divided in Lines and Brands whose Objects and Lights are inspired by different concepts.

Formia Classics: Objects and Chandeliers in a traditional and classic Murano style (Centuries: ‘500; ‘600; ‘700; ‘800).

Formia Modern: Objects, Lighting and Glass-ware, inspired by the Murano tradition, but reviewed with a modern flavor (today’s Murano)

AD&D (Art-Deco & Design: Design Objects and Lighting, inspired by the ‘20s and ‘30s of 20th Century.
